BASE team headed for Birmingham finals
Business students are preparing to fly the flag for the Island after reaching the finals of a national competition.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants' annual BASE competition held regional heats last month at the Sefton Hotel, Douglas - where a team from University College Isle of Man impressed judges with a presentation on modern day accounting practices.
Entrants were supported by mentors from local firms including Crowe Clark Whitehill.
The UCM team was commended for its 'professional approach' in handling complex financial problems under pressure - winners will now travel to Birmingham in June 2017 for the National Competition, which will see young brains pitted head-to-head for the grand prize.
It's the second accolade in weeks for UCM's Business department, after staff were awarded a Gold Standard in teaching and assessment excellence by the Institute of Bookkeeping.
