There was a marginal increase in unemployment in the Isle of Man in December.
At the end of the month the total stood at 979, an increase of eight on the November figure and representing an unemployment rate of 2.2 per cent.
During the month, 225 people signed on and 217 signed off the register, and the year ended with 713 men and 266 women looking for work. 
Vacancies notified to the job centre during December totalled 233, and 93 positions were still on file as 2012 began.
