Walter Wannennburgh appointed as Solicitor General

Long-serving advocate Walter Wannenburgh has been appointed to the new position of Her Majesty’s Solicitor General in the Isle of Man.

Mr Wannenburgh, currently a partner at law firm DQ, was first called to the Manx Bar in 1993 and is highly regarded for his expertise as a litigator.

 

He also sits on the Isle of Man Law Society Council.

 

Mr Wannenburgh has been appointed as Solicitor General by Her Majesty The Queen and will act as legal adviser to the Lieutenant Governor, Council of Ministers, Government Departments and Statutory Boards.

 

He will support the Attorney General in providing guidance on matters of law and issues relating to the Isle of Man’s domestic and external interests. He will also assist in representing the Crown in the prosecution of offences and drafting of Government legislation.
