Young talent search helps JA shine

A 15-year old singer-songwriter has taken the title of The Next Big Thing 2014.

Mae Challis scooped the award at the Gaiety Theatre at the final of Junior Achievement's talent competition.

She wowed the judges - including 2012 X Factor finalist Christopher Maloney - with an original composition.

Junior Achievement describes the competition as the Isle of Man's answer to Britain's Got Talent, with over 160 acts originally auditioning.

Throughout the year the Manx charity helps young people gain the essential skills they'll need when they leave full time education.

The organisation runs programmes throughout primary and secondary schools, and aims to raise £300,000 annually to continue this work.
