41-year-old was asked to leave area by residents
A Crosby man who swore repeatedly in the vicinity of young children – despite being asked to stop - has been fined £200.
David Samuel Anderson, of Eyreton Road, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse.
At around 2pm on 30 August Anderson – who the court was told is also known as ‘Scottish Dave’ – was seen in Quines Close in Ballasalla; he was overhead swearing by several witnesses.
The 41-year-old then approached a six-year-old boy playing in the area telling him: “Tell her you want a fight” and making gestures with his hands.
The boy’s mother noted Anderson’s eyes were glazed and he was slurring – he was still swearing and she asked him to leave; in response Anderson told her: “Me and you – I’m going to end this.”
In police interview Anderson told officers his actions had been ‘blown out of proportion’ adding that he swears as part of normal conversation.
When asked in court if there was anything he wanted to say in mitigation Anderson responded: “No”.
Deputy High Bailiff Graeme Cook also ordered Anderson to pay £125 in prosecution costs.
