40 films released to show 'changing face' of the Isle of Man

Culture Vannin marking 40th year

Forty films which chart the Isle of Man’s past have been released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of an organisation which works to support, promote and celebrate Manx culture.

Culture Vannin’s films document key points in recent history including the final flight of Manx Airlines and a tour of Summerland before the devastating fire in 1973.

The films were captured between 2001 and 2006 and have been released for free.

Dr Breesha Maddrell, director of Culture Vannin, said: "These films show the importance of our shared history and of what shapes us as an Island and as a nation.

"It is wonderful to have such archives to release now in our 40th year."

James Franklin is the online and educational resources officer at Culture Vannin:
