£6 million to be spent on insulation and draft excluders

DEFA efforts to tackle rising energy prices

Six million pounds will be spent providing people with free loft insulation and draft excluders.

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture has confirmed the money will be allocated from the Climate Change Transformation Fund.

Michelle Haywood is the political member:

£100,000 will also be spent on a major ‘behaviour change’ campaign with a ‘meaningful and impactful’ communications programme launching in the next few weeks.

Two energy doctors – which DEFA says will become ‘trusted experts’ – will also be appointed to visit residents’ homes and offer practical support and guidance on energy saving.
