Working with GTEC to relocate doctors and nurses
Sixty 'overseas' medical staff are due to relocate to the Isle of Man in the next six months.
Manx Care has confirmed it's working with GTEC – the Global Training and Education Centre – to recruit new doctors and nurses.
The health body has described staffing shortages as the 'single biggest risk' it's currently facing.
It claims there are currently 40,000 nurse vacancies, and 10,000 doctor vacancies, in the UK and, as a result, Manx Care says it's continually competing with UK NHS trusts to recruit.
Over the last month a number of new specialists have been secured including three respiratory medicine consultants, a consultant radiologist, consultant anaesthetist and consultant geriatrician and a urologist.
However Manx Care says it's also turned to 'specialist medical recruitment agencies' to find appropriately qualified staff who want to deliver 'exceptional patient-centered care'.
