76-year-old woman banned for drink driving

Members of the public alerted police to driving

A woman's been banned from the roads after members of the public alerted police about her driving.

Margaret Headon of Cronk Cullen in Colby appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas courthouse.

The 76-year-old pleaded guilty to one count of drink-driving.

Prosecution advocate Hazel Carroon told the hearing police received calls at around 1:30pm on 2 July.

Officers stopped Headon in Derbyhaven Road, and smelled alcohol on her breath.

She was arrested after explaining she couldn't do a breath test because of a medical condition, and was taken to police headquarters.

There, a urine test gave a reading of 129 – the legal limit is 107.

Headon was fined 800 and ordered to pay £125 towards prosecution costs as well as being banned from driving for a year.
