Disruptive weather causes more call outs
It's been a busy week for the Island's tree surgeons, with disruptive weather causing a series of problems.
Local company ABC Tree Surgery shared images on social media from an emergency call out during the stormy conditions, where a mature Beech had uprooted in the winds.
The company said "with a combination of skillful dismantling and excellently executed winch work, we managed to bring it down with minimal collateral damage to the rest of the trees it was leaning on, and it's now safe on the woodland floor."
The post went on to point out some of the roots were severed, when a tarmac drive was installed at the base of the tree some years ago.
ABC re-emphasised the importance of root protection when considering developments or building near trees.
