Since then Tesco has increased its presence on the Island
Today marks one year since Shoprite made the shock announcement that it would be selling all nine of its stores to Tesco.
Since then, the stores have gradually been rebranded, with Tesco increasing its presence on the Isle of Man.
However, the transition has not been without controversy. Local producers have been calling for more support, while the government introduced measures to ensure Island suppliers could still stock their products on the shelves.
Here’s what residents had to say a year ago when the news first broke:
Petrol station to trial bodycams
Bus drivers to hold off taking industrial action while talks continue
Regulation of Health and Social Care Bill pushed back to 2027
Manx patients will be contacted if appointments are impacted by UK strikes
