Abortion reform back on the agenda for MHKs

Legislative Council amendments to be considered

The Abortion Reform Bill will go through its latest stage in the House of Keys this morning, 30 October.

MHKs will be asked to consider amendments made by the Legislative Council to the proposed legislation.

Before that, there are sixteen questions, six for oral answer and 10 for written reply.

There are three questions each from Douglas South MHK Kate Beecroft and Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse.

Mrs Beecroft’s questions surround the powers, responsibilities and appointment of the Chief Secretary.

While Mr Moorhouse’s questions focus on money held in dormant accounts, security at Manx National Heritage sites, and progress in encouraging the use of alternatives to plastic.

Questions for written answer cover planning breaches, the calculation of the valuation of the Steam Packet Company, public health advice in relation to log burners, and a breakdown of accident rates for the past five years on two roads in the South of the Island.

You can listen to coverage of question time from the House of Keys online at manxradio.com via the AM Player, on the smartphone apps, or by tuning in to AM1368, from 10am.

The legislative Council also sit today, starting at 10.30am, when the Criminal Evidence Bill 2018 will be put forward for its third reading.
