Kate Lord-Brennan wants to see a committee established
An MLC wants three of her colleagues to investigate the current 'adverse possession' laws on the Isle of Man, after fears we could be behind other jurisdictions.
It's more commonly known as "squatter's rights", where someone acquires legal ownership of land or property based on continuous possession or occupation of it - without the permission of its legal owner.
Kate Lord-Brennan is moving to see a committee established, following a petition for redress on the topic, submitted on Tynwald Day this year.
She argues it's "worthy of investigating" in the "public interest":
