Weekend of cancellations due to weather and runway work
Communication about issues which led to a weekend of flight cancellations was poor.
That’s the admission from the political member with responsibility for the airport who has apologised to people caught up in the disruption.
Poor weather coincided with a planned upgrade of the Instrument Landing System on Runway 26 - without it planes can’t land when there are visibility issues.
Tim Glover says while much of what happened was beyond the airport's control it would have been better to let people know what was going on:
'Unnecessary' delays left electricity customer in limbo
Drone users reminded not to fly devices during Classic TT and Manx Grand Prix course closures
'The Island needs to be able to compete' against other destinations
Public urged to consult on capacity
