Passenger claims gate staff were rude to them for calling 999

An investigation has been launched by Isle of Man Airport following reports concerning passenger welfare and safety.

An anonymous post on Facebook, yesterday (31 May), alleged a passenger was 'trembling/shaking and unable to talk' while queuing at a departure gate.

According to the post the man was disregarded by staff while the anonymous passenger tried to assist him.

The poster said, as a bystander, they became concerned for the man's welfare and contacted 999 but claims they were spoken to rudely by the gate staff.

A spokesperson for the Isle of Man Airport says it takes any report concerning passenger welfare and safety extremely seriously.

In a statement they said: "We are aware of the concerns that have been raised regarding a recent medical incident at the airport and have commenced a thorough investigation to establish the full facts surrounding the matter.

"It would be inappropriate to comment further until that investigation has been completed.

"Once our review is concluded we will consider any lessons learned and any actions that may be required.

"In the meantime our thoughts are with the passenger involved and we sincerely hope they are making a full recovery."
