Alleged victims must be heard

Knottfield inquiry suspended after fresh evidence emerges

Alleged victims of abuse at a former Island children’s home must have the chance to tell of their experiences.

So says an MLC who is chairing an inquiry into reports of historical child abuse at Knottfield in Douglas.

Its work has been suspended while a fresh criminal investigation is launched by police.

David Cretney says it’s important the committee, called for by Ayre and Michael MHK Tim Baker, resumes taking evidence once the constabulary work concludes.
