Almost 50 have breast clinic appointments cancelled

Manchester hospital cover may not now be available

Nearly 50 people have had their appointments at the Manx Breast Clinic cancelled due to the delay in getting locum doctors to the Island.

Manx Care says the 48 individuals, who were booked into clinics until the end of this year, will be contacted and rebooked to attend approximately seven days after their initial planned appointment.

“We are currently working to accommodate everyone as quickly as possible.” – Manx Care

Yesterday (14 November) the health body confirmed there would be delays for people being referred to the clinic by a GP and for those who require further assessment after screening.

It’s blamed the lack of immediate locum availability but says temporary staff have been secured from the UK.

Women had been told they may be offered appointments in Manchester instead however Manx Care has now told Manx Radio this may not be possible now due to ‘capacity issues’ there.
