Significant coastal overtopping expected at high tide
There's an amber warning for significant coastal overtopping of sea water and debris in the hours either side of high tide which is due at 11.30am.
Areas most at risk are Shore Road in Gansey, Castletown promenade and the northern end of Douglas prom as spring tides combine with a severe south to south west gale.
At a lesser level, the rest of the promenade in Douglas plus Laxey and Ramsey could be hit.
There's also a yellow weather warning in place for the winds with gusts of up to 60mph.
Both warnings run until 2pm.
There will be no papers delivered to the Island today after the cancellation of the overnight Steam Packet sailings and no aircraft alternative could be found.
This morning's 8.45am sailing to Heysham is expected to depart as scheduled.
Motorists are asked to drive to the conditions as there is debris on the roads.
