Amber weather warning ahead of 'significant debris' on coast roads

Met Office warns of coastal overtopping for next two high tides

Ronaldsway Met Office is warning there could be significant debris on coast roads for the next two high tides.

An amber weather warning will come into force at 9pm today and will remain in place until 1pm tomorrow.

Forecasters say there will be moderate coastal overtopping at high tide tonight (10.55pm), as well as tomorrow morning (11.09am).

Shore Road in Rushen, as well as Castletown, Laxey, Douglas and Ramsey promenades are expected to be worst hit, while West Quay Road in Peel could also be affected tonight.

The Steam Packet Company is warning there could be disruption to tomorrow's sailings.

The 8.45am crossing to Heysham, and the return service at 2.15pm, are both subject to disruption or cancellation as a result of the weather forecast.

A final decision will be made by 7am tomorrow.
