Amber weather warning for coastal overtopping

Effective from 11am Friday to 2am Saturday

An amber weather warning has been issued for coastal overtopping around high tide just after midday today (Fri) and midnight thirty tomorrow morning.

Areas likely to affected include central and northern parts of Douglas Promenade, Laxey and Ramsey Promenades, Castletown, Shore Road and Rushen.

The warning is in place between 11am and 2am tomorrow morning.

There's also a yellow warning for heavy rain which will affect the island, potentially leading to 10-20mm of accumulation with 20-30mm over high ground.

The Met Office says this may lead to surface water flooding, especially given the large accumulations seen over the last 24 hours, and difficult driving conditions can be expected with standing water.

This will be accompanied with gale force south-easterly winds with potential gusts 50-55mph with isolated 60mph, highest gusts more likely over high ground.
