Chief minister would look into role if ministers wanted

Establishing an auditor general on the Isle of Man would cost government between £400,000 and £500,000.

The chief minister gave the figure in this month's sitting of Tynwald in response to a question by Garff MHK Daphne Caine.

Mrs Caine suggested it is 'slack' to have not appointed an auditor general for the Programme for Government.

Howard Quayle says he has an open mind on the subject, but with the Manx Budget announced just this week it's a matter of priority.

He added if it is sought by ministers, then he's happy to look into it.
