Ballakermeen student to cycle for 24 hours in memory of teacher

Jake Hodgson to ride for Carol Synott

The memory of a local teacher is being honoured through a 24-hour bike ride.

Ballakermeen High School student Jake Hodgson is cycling for Carol Synott, a teacher and tutor at the school, who recently lost her life.

From 10am today to 10am on Sunday, Jake will be cycling laps of the perimeter road at the NSC for 24 hours.

During the challenge, he’ll also be raising funds for Hospice Isle of Man and Alzheimer’s Society UK and Ireland.

Mr Synott and their son, Mike, will set Jake off at the start line.

Anyone who would like to keep Jake company during part of the challenge is welcome but asked to adhere to social distancing rules of two metres.

To make sure there are only two to four cyclists riding at a time, time slots may need to be provided, so if you’d like to join Jake, you’re asked to message him your details via Facebook.

Jake says ‘Mrs Synott was a great supporter of my challenges and gave me lots of encouragement to complete them. This one is for her.’
