44-year-old ordered to work with probation service
A Douglas woman has been banned from the road for five years after drink driving on Marine Drive.
Allison Medina Burns, of Hillberry Lakes, was nearly three times over the legal limit on 17 January.
The 44-year-old drove to the area, consumed a bottle of prosecco, and then got back behind the wheel to drive.
Emergency services were called to the scene by a witness who saw the car 'suddenly lurch forward' before leaving the road.
Officers later discovered her driving licence had expired in 2017.
Burns had previously admitted drink driving and driving without a licence.
During sentencing at Douglas Courthouse Burns' advocate told the court she is 'a woman who is genuinely and deeply remorseful' adding she was 'struggling with life' at the time.
Imposing an 18-month probation order, and ordering Burns to pay prosecution costs, Magistrates told her they were 'relieved' she'd received help since the incident.
