Commissioners praise 'integral part' of town's hospitality offering
One of Port Erin's most popular offerings is set for an upgrade to make it a more permanent fixture.
The village's commissioners is seeking planning permission to enhance the beach sauna facilities on its beach.
LJW Enterprises has been running the beach sauna Kishtey Cheh for more than three years, with the local authority saying it has become an 'integral part of the hospitality offering in Port Erin and has made a significant contribution to the viability of that sector'.
Under this new application, LJW Enterprises wants to create a more permanent destination for their guests, saying it would offer 'a wider range of facilities and greater levels of space to facilitate good turnaround times and an even better and more relaxing overall experience'.
To do this, the plan is to lift the level of the timber deck so that it is at the same level as the adjacent parking area and remove one section of the existing metal railing, to provide a level access for all users.
The application says: "The additional changing and storage areas will help avoid congestion at changeover and busier times, and this is enhanced with a larger arrival space, allowing guests to wait, if necessary, until their pre-booked session is available."
