
The Lord Bishop says he will "be on the next boat off the Island!" if Tynwald doesn't vote to allow women bishops.
The Reverend Libby Lane becomes the new Bishop of Stockport and the first ever female bishop in the Church of England in a few days time, after an historic decision by the General Synod of the Church of England last year.
However, the diocese of Sodor and Man is a different jurisdiction and whilst the local synod met last week to approve the move it still has to be approved by Tynwald.
There were no votes against the proposal to allow women bishops in the local synod, though there were five abstentions.
Bishop Robert says whilst there may be some individual concerns, he believes the vast majority of Tynwald members will be in favour of women bishops.
