Boot stands for election in Glenfaba

Contest assured as second candidate declares

A second candidate has declared for the House of Keys by election in Glenfaba.

Geoffrey Boot from St John's will contest the seat left vacant by David Anderson, following his move to Legislative Council.

Mr Boot was runner-up in the constituency at the 2011 general election, trailing Mr Anderson by less than 100 votes.

Currently a German parish commissioner, Mr Boot lists wide business interests in areas including property, leisure and publishing.

He holds a commercial pilot's licence and is an air racing enthusiast.

Mr Boot says in contrast to some MHKs, he can offer valuable business and political experience gained in the UK, Europe and on the international stage.

David Talbot is the only other candidate to declare so far in Glenfaba, whose constituents go the polls on 10 September.
