It was one of the items discussed at its July public meeting

Braddan Commissioners is looking to include campervans in its plans to have a campsite at The Roundhouse during the TT fortnight.

Clerk Colin Whiteway told the board that a planning application has been submitted which he said was for 53 tents and provisionally six campervans on the site.

Meanwhile, Centre Manager Cassi McAllister said there could be a no hitch rule for electricity, which she confirmed other campsites use.

She added that a plan for sewage disposal would need to be arranged.

Mr Whiteway confirmed a meeting has been arranged with Union Mills Football Club to see if the two organisations can work together.

Commissioner Mel Kermeen asked whether the local authority should speak to the operators of other campsites nearby to see what they would say.

Ms McAllister said a mail drop had also been organised to go to nearby households to make them aware of the proposal.

Also on the agenda was a discussion about the section of road in Snugborough Trading Estate the commissioners own.

Mr Whiteway told the board it has been identified as a potential future liability for the local authority.

The roadway around the left side of the estate was adopted under the previous clerk and purchased for £1.

Mr Whiteway said the board had a couple of options to try and rectify the situation – designate the area as a ‘special rate zone’ and use the money to bring the road up to standard or ask the businesses to form a management company to sort it themselves.

He also said the commissioners had added a speed bump to the road at the request of the companies in the estate.

The board agreed to the clerk investigating both options and look into bringing the road up to the Department of Infrastructure standards.

Braddan Commissioners will next meet on Thursday 14 August.
