Breast screening suspension 'blown out of proportion' says Hooper

Health minister says there will be benefits to pausing service

The health minister says he's concerned the matter of the suspension to breast screening services on the Island is being 'blown out of proportion'.

Services were paused at the start of February, whilst Manx Care updates its reporting programme.

Lawrie Hooper was asked an urgent question at the start of today's House of Keys sitting as to why.

But the minister insists a 'short delay' should not adversely affect patients, and the benefits of the suspension will outweigh any impact:

It's hoped breast screening will resume by the end of the month, and the service improved, following the period of suspension.

People who feel they have a problem are being urged to contact their GP or the Breast Screening Team on 642570.
