Salvation Army hosts session for those looking to tackle debt
A drop in session is taking place today for Manx residents looking for help tackling debt.
The Salvation Army is offering support on budgeting, money management and prioritising essential spending.
Today's workshop focusses on budget, and takes place at Douglas City Library from 10am to 11.30am.
A further session will take place on 2 May looking at helping those not currently in employment.
Debbie White, the area debt advice co-ordinator for Salvation Army Isle of Man, said: "We want to empower people to take ownership and gain control of their finances, taking their next steps to financial confidence. Some people can find themselves in situations that are troubling and can be upsetting and overwhelming and with nowhere to turn, and this can cause both mental and emotional strain. We hope these drop-in sessions, which will take the form or an informal chat in a relaxed environment, will equip our clients with the skills to better their life and to enable them to have the power to change their life.
"For many people, budgeting is taken for granted and if not done correctly can make lives spiral. We want to work with people to find a solid solution. The Salvation Army’s mission has always been to help people in need and we work with clients who are in thousands of pounds worth of debt and those who just need a bit of support with budgeting in order to stretch their money. We know that the rise in the cost of living has pushed people’s finances to the absolute max and we encourage anyone that might be struggling to get in touch and let us help."
