A pub in Peel has announced its closure.

Established in the early 1600s, the Central is thought to be one of the first pubs ever recorded on the Isle of Man.

It's been run by the current owners, the Gelling family, for the past 25 years.

In a post on social media, The Central Bar and Bistro says the decision was not made lightly as owners fought against it for 'many months'.

However, it adds difficult trading conditions and the hospitality industry in general have made it impossible for the business to continue.

The last day of operation will be Saturday (6 September).
