Businesses already paying high wages says enterprise minister

Hooper responds to minimum wage concerns

The enterprise minister insists many Island businesses are already paying above minimum wage.

That's despite feedback to the Minimum Wage Committee suggesting an £11 hourly rate - just 25p per hour short of what it's set to increase to in April - would be too much for some.

The proposed increase from the Department for Enterprise and Treasury is subject to Tynwald approval.

But is Lawrie Hooper concerned some small companies could succumb to financial pressures in the coming year?
