Consultation on Safe Access Zones and Protected Public Places Bill closes next week
A campaigner has voiced concerns over the impact proposed new laws could have on freedom of speech.
There's just over a week left to respond to a call for evidence on the Safe Access Zones and Protected Public Places Bill.
It's designed to protect care and research workers from intimidation.
Rushen MHK Michelle Haywood brought forward the proposals as a private members bill last year with a consultation due to close next week (16 March).
She previously stated the bill isn't intended to impact on the right to protest.
Retired law lecturer Peter Murcott held a public talk this week alleging that it would result in a 'severe restriction' on free speech.
