The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture has applied to build a new car park at Silverdale Glen in Ballasalla.
The plans would cater for up to 87 cars and also provide two coach parking spaces at the popular beauty spot.
Two fields just off the main A3 road from Cross Four Ways to Foxdale have been earmarked for the development, which would provide pedestrian access from the West.
The department says the new car park would mean less traffic along the narrow access road which currently serves the glen.
