Man jailed for attempted robbery
A man who tried to hold up a chemist in Castletown with a knife has been given more jail time for possessing a knife in public while drunk.
Last week, Paul Sunday Akinmurele of James Road in Castletown was sent to jail for two and a half years for the attempted robbery.
This week, however, he appeared in court again, where he pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly and possessing a knife on 1 September.
He also admitted damaging a police van and cell on the same date.
Forty-five-year-old Akinmurele pleaded guilty to using provoking behaviour on 14 July last year and criminal damage on 6 September.
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes heard he walked into the house of a man he knew at 10.30pm on 14 July and started arguing with him.
He was pushed outside, where a scuffle ensued.
Mrs Hughes jailed him for an extra 20 weeks, to be served after his current sentence and imposed another 21-day concurrent sentence after he defaulted on fines.
