Operator of SBOBET and SBOTOP removed from GSC licensee register

Celton Manx - an Isle of Man based eGaming firm - has surrendered its online gambling licence.

The company has been omitted from the Gambling Supervision Commission's Online Gambling Licensee Register in its latest update.

However, Celton Manx does appear on the list of former licence holders, showing that its licence was surrendered on 9 May.

The company is the operator of sports betting brands SBOBET and SBOTOP, which in recent years have sponsored football clubs Leeds United and Fulham FC.

Chief Executive Officer Bill Mummery - who is also a trustee of Manx Radio - confirmed that the company had surrendered its licence, but couldn't comment any further.

The news comes just two months since eGaming giant PokerStars also surrendered its licence with the Isle of Man's Gambling Supervision Commission after twenty years.

In a statement to Manx Radio, the Gambling Supervision Commission says: "[The GSC] is aware that with effect Friday 9 May 2025, Celton Manx has formally surrendered its licence. Celton Manx held a licence with the GSC under the Online Gambling Regulation Act since 2008.

"A licence holder may surrender their licence for various reasons and the GSC is unable to discuss individual circumstances in this regard."
