Chernobyl children need your help

Volunteers sought for 20th anniversary of charity

A Manx charity which provides respite for radiation-hit younsters is looking for new recruits ahead of its twentieth anniversary year.

Every year, the Friends of Chernobyl's Children brings young people, who live close to the site of the nuclear disaster, to the Island for a holiday.

Radiation is still present in Chernobyl and the surrounding areas, and it's estimated around 40,000 children will develop thyroid cancer over the next decade.

Coming to the Isle of Man for a month of fun and fresh air makes a 'noticeable' difference to their health.
