Chief Constable 'absolutely committed to neighbourhood policing'

Public urged to turn out to community roadshow events in November

The Isle of Man’s new chief constable has told Manx Radio he is ‘absolutely committed’ to neighbourhood policing.

Russ Foster is encouraging Island residents to attend a number of community meetings, which will be held next month, to find out how police area tackling criminality and anti-social behaviour.

He says the constabulary will use the ‘conversations and concerns’ to shape the way policing is carried out; the Department of Home Affairs and Crimestoppers will also be in attendance.

Mr Foster says officers want to make sure the public feel safe:

The roadshows will take place as follows:

  • West: Thursday, 9 November: QEII High School, 6pm – 8pm
  • South: Monday, 20 November: Castle Rushen High School, 6pm – 8pm
  • North: Thursday, 23 November: Ramsey Grammar School, 6pm – 8pm
  • East: Wednesday, 29 November: Sight Matters (Onchan), 6pm – 8pm

Minister for Justice and Home Affairs Jane Poole-Wilson said: "I’d encourage all members of the public, community action groups, charities, or others with any concerns to come along to take part in the discussion about how we can maintain a safe and secure Isle of Man for the future."
