The Chief Minister says he's confident the Isle of Man is capable of delivering food security in emergency situations.
There have been calls for more support for Manx producers after shortages faced by the Island in the wake of Storm Darragh.
Alf Cannan took a moment at the start of this month's Tynwald sitting to thank all emergency services personnel and private individuals who worked tirelessly over the weekend during the storm.
Onchan MHK Julie Edge told Mr Cannan that the key issue for the Manx public is the security of supply and food when there's no access - adding "when all your eggs are in one basket it does cause concern".
To which Mr Cannan responded during periods of significant storms there is travel disruption:
