Howard Quayle says process of extraction not new
The Chief Minister has defended the decision to award a licence for oil and gas exploration in Manx waters.
Last week it was announced that Isle of Man-based company Crogga has been given permission to explore a gas deposit 8-10 miles off Maughold Head.
The company will conduct an initial seismic survey of the area, before seeking further approval for exploratory drilling.
Howard Quayle says the process won't be as controversial as some projects in the UK.
