Chief Minister downplays concerns over Disability Bill clauses

Believes Bill remains on target

The Chief Minister says he believes backbencher Chris Robertshaw is "missing the point a little" with his concerns over the Equality Bill.

Last week Mr Robertshaw said MHKs should avoid being "overzealous" in developing legislation - as he believed a proposed clause in the Bill which would prevent employers from asking job applicants questions about their state of health, could lead to legal action against local business owners.

However Howard Quayle says the legislation wants to ensure that disabled people are not unfairly ruled out in the early stages of recruitment - as the definition of disability for the purposes of the Bill is rightly broad.
