Chief Minister re-signs Armed Forces Community Covenant

Commits government to supporting military personnel

Chief Minister Howard Quayle has reaffirmed the Government's commitment to supporting Manx residents who've served in the Armed Forces.

He re-signed the Armed Forces Community Covenant this afternoon.

The document aims to help those from military backgrounds access services, such as mental health support, sheltered housing and integration into local life.

Commander of the North West region for the army, Colonel Russ Miller, attended the ceremony: (play audio)

The chief minister believes offering support to members of the armed forces could help bring skilled workers to the Island.

Removing work permit barriers and help integrating into the community are among the promises made in the covenant.

Mr Quayle says those leaving the armed forces can fill important jobs.
