'Chips. cheese and gravy is so popular because of Manx cheese', says chippy owner

About 12 barrels of potatoes will be used 

A chippy owner estimates he will use about 12 barrels of potatoes today, which marks Chips, Cheese and Gravy Day. 

Dave Matthews owns Peel Fisheries Chippy as well as Cod and Castle in the west of the Island. 

He's labelled the dish as 'the most popular sold island-wide throughout the year', adding it's due to the Manx cheese. 

He says each year there's a 'massive hype' around it, turning an average Monday into a good one for businesses:
