Civil service pay award confirmed

Civil servants will be getting a pay rise of two per cent this year after negotiations at the Island’s industrial relations service.

After conciliation, the Civil Service Commission and Government Officer’s Association have announced the pay settlement.

The deal also means civil servants will get a 0.5 per cent pay increase backdated to last April.

Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, MHK Alfred Cannan, says the award will cost government in the region of an extra £2 million – and that will come from within existing department budgets.
