Turnout under 15 per cent
The Island's largest local authority is welcoming its newest member today.
Retired engineer and musical director Ian Clague won yesterday's by-election by a landslide to become a Douglas councillor for Victoria Ward.
Mr Clague received 175 of the 358 votes cast. Of the other four contesting the seat, his nearest rival was Natalie Byron who gained 74 votes.
Voter turnout was a meagre 12.3 per cent.
