Claims discrimination cases likely to increase

Advocate's concerns

New laws to protect workers' rights in the Island are a 'clear and present danger' to employers, according to a legal specialist.

The Equality Bill is due to come into force this summer, and will shield employees from discrimination in a range of areas, including age, race and sexuality.

Leanne McKeown from DQ Advocates says falling foul of the rules is likely to cost firms dear in both financial and reputational terms - as well as having an impact on the Island's image as a whole.

She's urging managers and staff to familiarise themselves with the Bill
