Big freeze sets record

The coldest day in the Isle of Man for more than seven years was recorded this week.

Ronaldsway Met Office has just issued its weather review of February, which contains the data.

It says the daytime peak temperature on Wednesday, 28 February, was just 1.1°C, which was the coldest day since December 2010.

On the whole, February was a little colder than normal, but there was a lot more sunshine - 132 hours, compared to the long-term mean of 78.

Perhaps surprisingly, there was nothing out of the ordinary wind or rainfall-wise.

There were six days with snow, and eight with hail, but accumulations were generally slight.
