MCALS hosting two-day event at The Roundhouse in Braddan
Manx Care's Advice and Liaison Service is hosting a two-day collaboration event this week focussing on the "Home First" approach.
Residents, community organisations and health and social care professionals are being invited to find out more about how local teams are working together to help people stay well and independent in their own homes for longer.
It's taking place at The Roundhouse in Braddan between 3:30pm and 7pm tomorrow and Wednesday (11-12 November).
There will also be Q&A sessions with Manx Care CEO Teresa Cope from 5pm on both days - with Health Minister Claire Christian attending on 12 November.
Karen Maddox, Manx Care's Experience & Involvement Lead, and Rachel Douglas, Service Lead for MCALS, have been speaking to Manx Radio:
Manx Care says there will be people on hand to share information about:
- Intermediate care – the services that help people recover and regain independence after illness or hospital stays.
- Developments in Primary Care and community services – how they are planning for care to be delivered closer to home.
- Education and training opportunities – resources available for carers, patients, service users and staff.
- Support in your local area – practical ways to access help and advice to stay well at home.
The health body says the Home First Collaboration event reflects its 'commitment to improving care through integration, innovation, and partnership – ensuring that people receive the right support, in the right place, at the right time'.
Everyone is welcome to attend, no booking is required and visitors can arrive at any time during the sessions.
Refreshments will be available, along with a crafting station, a prize drawer to win a Steam Packet Travel Voucher and a Wellbeing Hamper.
