ComCab deal still not complete

Minister provides taxi transfer update

A contract between the Department of Health and Social Care and a new transport provider is still being finalised - despite the operator taking over in just six days time.

ComCab Liverpool begins the service for Manx hospital patients in the north west of England next Monday, after winning a competitive tender process.

There was an outcry when it was announced the Bridgewater deal was not being renewed.

However, Mrs Beecroft revealed while the new three year ComCab agreement (with the option to extend for two years) could save her department up to £30,000, social value was vital and the service would be monitored for quality with feedback from both patients and carers.

She also revealed there would be a clause allowing for early termination of the contract, if standards were not met.
