Taking around 70 trips in three years
A Freedom of Information request has uncovered the high-end hotel preferences of government executives.
Trips by the Gambling Supervision Commission to Hong Kong, Sydney, Johannesburg and Paris have come under the spotlight.
But it's still not known how much they cost the taxpayer.
They are the kinds of venue many of us would associate with a honeymoon or luxurious weekend getaway.
But for around ten weeks every year, they host senior public officials from the Isle of Man's gaming regulator.
Trade shows, conferences and meetings have merited stays in the likes of the five-star St James' Court in Westminster, the Emperor's Palace in Johannesburg, or the Kempinski in Lithuania (rated among the country's finest).
And although a full cost breakdown is not provided for the roughly 70 trips made since 2014, the average rate for some of them tops £200 per night.
GSC bosses have been approached for comment.
