Community service for man who told ex: "I'll break your jaw"

25-year-old also handed five year restraining order

A Douglas man has been handed a restraining order after attempting to break into his ex-girlfriend’s home.

Wiktor Andrzej Budzinski, of Princes Avenue, also sent her a stream of abusive and threatening messages telling her in one: “I’ll break your jaw”.

The 25-year-old later pleaded guilty to making annoying or persistent use of the public communications network, damaging property and possessing cannabis.

The court heard Budzinski and his partner had split up on 6 April – in the following days he sent her messages telling her he hated her, calling her names and threating to cut down her door.

On 8 April the woman returned to her flat to find her front door had been damaged – Budzinski was arrested and admitted he’d used a fire extinguisher to try and gain entry to retrieve his possessions.

During sentencing his advocate said the relationship between the couple had been ‘unhealthy’ adding: “Mr Budzinski is ashamed of those messages – quite deeply ashamed.”

Magistrates sentenced Budzinski to 120 hours of community service and placed him under a supervision order for 12 months; he was also ordered to pay £300 in prosecution costs.

Imposing a five-year restraining order they told him: “We feel you need help – that means we’re giving you a chance; you need to seize this opportunity.”
